Mafioso hired a contract killer (in English) author kaapo, 22.11.2006 at 20.57.
Summary: Interview with Peter Bertheau
Peter Bertheau (PBertheau of the NFL team Mafioso) is a Swedish international. He's been playing for Swedish Open team since 2001. He was winning the silver medailles for the home team in the 2004 European Team Championships in Malmö, Sweden. They were 4th in 2005 World Team Championships in Estoril, Portugal. This year they finished 4th in the 2006 European Championships in Warsaw, Poland. Peter also played for team Henner and finished 2nd in the Rosenblum Cup in 2006 World Bridge Championships in Verona, Italy this summer.
Peter is 31, married to Kathrine with a daughter and a son. He lives in Täby in the proximity of Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. He plays on BBO as PBertheau. We had a chance to change a few words with him. Reading on reveals what the topic of the interview is all about...
NFL: Tja, Peter!
Nice false card on board 6. Did you expect it to lead declarer astray?
PB: Hej, Kari!
Didn't expect anything, wanted him to get confused thats all.
NFL: This was your first appearance in the Nordic Friendship League. How did you like the play and the League?
PB: It was nice, first time I played with Leif. He is a very strong player. The league seems like a nice idea, keep up thegood work.
NFL: Will you be enforcing the mostly junior team Mafioso on a regular basis?
PB: I try to help Fryklund and other juniors with their bridge. I will play again if they ask me.
NFL: How do you like playing with the juniors? (The interviewer, having his last months as a junior, had a pleasant but not very succesful chance to play against PB in the OBS tournament in Stockholm in April.)
PB: I like to play with the juniors. I like to give them the same oppertunity as I had when I was a junior.
NFL: You seem to play Money Bridge on BBO a lot. Are you winning?
PB: Just a way to stay out of poker for a while. Yes i am winning.
NFL: Do you still prefer Fredrik (Nyström) over GiB as a partner? ;)
PB: Fredrik is an exellent player and partner. GiB is neither.
NFL: You are still young for a bridge player but you have very nice accomplishments. What do you think are your best merits? Best experiences?
PB: 2nd in Europeans and 2nd in Rosenblum are my biggest things. My happiest bridge winning was when for the first time I won the Swedish junior championship. I've been 2nd so many times in chess so it felt really really good.
NFL: What makes the difference between a good bridge player and a pro?
PB: A pro makes less misstakes. My biggest bridge tip is: "Keep it simple."
NFL: I got a tip from David Grainger for playing against you and Nystöm: "Nystrom refuses to lead away from K's at suit contracts." Do you have a habbit or a weak spot in your play you'd like to get rid of?
PB: My biggest weakness is when I get tired I suck bigtimes.
NFL: Going into the future, Sweden in Bermuda Bowl in Shanghai 2007... what are the expectations, with Fredin out and all?
PB: We hope to get to the final of 8. After that anything can happen.
NFL: Because I play a similar system to you and Fredrik's, I'd have a lot more questions to you about bidding. However, I think I have had plenty of your time already so we will leave that for the next time.
PB: I am happy to answer any Q.
NFL: Tack så mycket för intervjun, Peter!
PB: Ingen orsak.
PBertheau was interviewed by kaapo aka Kari Patana on November 10th.
