"PRIMEN" – Frode Fyllingen in memory

Frode Fyllingen 1976 - 2010

On Tuesday this week, we got the terrible news that our team member Frode Fyllingen had died in a car accident the day before. Frode, only 33 years old, was on his way home to his parents, a stop on the way to the funeral of a bridge friend who died last week.

Nordic Friendship League

Frode was a member of our team, Bridgemagasiner, in the Nordic Friendship League on BBO. In our first year, 2008, we lost the semifinal and became third in the tournament with 40 teams from the start. Frode was strongly involved in our strong result.

We also participated this year and are qualified for the playoffs again. Frode was supposed to play with us in the playoffs, but he can’t. We will try to do our best for Frode who really looked forward to the playoffs, he said:

"It's now the really important matches begins!"

Here is a little story of how eager Frode was when he was part of something:

Cayne vs Bridgemagasiner

Frode was on the late shift at work so he would not be able to reach the start of the match. But he could leave work an hour before if he began an hour earlier at work! So he did, he really wanted to play against the stars in Cayne's team.

Frode missed a few boards of the secound half, but he did play against the stars and did well. We lost the match by a small margin. It was an entertaining match, we were all agreed that it had been very pleasant and we had played a good match against the pro team.

Frode was a winner:
Frode was a winner whowas not finished with a board just because we had played those boards we should. He liked to discuss the game in depth. I remember that he repeatedly surprised me by saying “but if”….. Frode had seen things I had not been near to thinking about, of course. There were angles only Frode could think about but he always had a good point or a good argument for his opinions.

Frode, dear friend, we will miss you!

Rest in peace!
